How many of our children’s bodies must pave the way
before we can no longer bear the pain of our shameful wait?
How many rivers of our children’s blood must flow
before they quench the lust of those who love guns more?
How many times must our children and friends be machine gunned and die
before we finally see the needless tragedy in their bullet-shortened lives?
How much longer will we do nothing, how many years will have to pass
before we will not be denied and make this time be the last?!

How many schoolyards must be bathed in blood while we look away
before we see the horror, the reality, the undeniable truth of the murders they have witnessed?!
How many sparkling, loving eyes must be left staring up at the sky
before we find the necessary rage to stop the nightmarish slaughter?!
How many times can we hear the cries of our children’s terror and their parents’ anguish
before they’re loud enough to wake us up and make sure there’s not one more time?!
How many of our young ones have to die in a madman’s shooting spree
before we say, “This is ENOUGH!” and finally make it stop?!
